Barbie on the beach?

I want to be there. On the beach, eating shrimps from the barbie. Anyone else fancy that? These Whitstable bucket BBQ's, which are new in, are brilliant. Quite simply, a bucket which barbeques! Fill with charcoal before you set off, carry in one hand and have yourself a great little party on the beach, park, roof terrace or garden. Whitstable BBQ £22.

'Charity Shop Cabaret' - the best of Brighton's Fringe Festival

We feel compelled to shout about and share with you this utterly brilliant comedy act which we were lucky enough to see last night, as part of Brighton's Fringe Festival. The Charity Shop Cabaret is based around the wonderful, and highly entertaining, world of Elspeth Garter, her Charity Shop and its volunteers. We loved the dance routines, giggled throughout bingo (yes, you get to play bingo!) and genuinely marvelled at the spectacle which had us in stitches for 2 hours. This touring company from Cornwall is an emerging act of huge talent and if you ever get chance to see them you'll be guaranteed to laugh until you cry! Look out for them at the Edinburgh Festival, or for a little slice of humour to cheer your soul take a look at the video clip on their site www.triflegatheringproductions.co.uk

High-Tops by Ash

The Fash Pack are telling us that we need a pair of High-Tops this season and whilst we don't always follow trends just for the sake of being uber cool and fashionable, we will always salute style and comfort which is exactly what we see in these gorgeous High-Tops from luxury footwear brand, Ash. Soft understated tones of worn leather and nearly nude, laced or buckled, and a regular plimsole if a high-top is not quite you. They look great with skinnies and when we are finally ready to get our pasty pins out, I think they will make a very cool look with shorts, great for the school run, shopping days or summer festivals. Take a look here.

A top beauty tip ...

One of the things I love about working with girls - and very lovely girls at that - is that we all share little tips about life, love, fashion and most frequently, beauty. If someones skin is glowing then you can pretty much guarantee that I will have run out, purchased the wonder cream responsible and tested it for myself within a matter of days (I'm not one who likes to miss out on a good thing). And I have to add, that any purchase I have made on recommendation from any lavender girl has not only been a huge success but has remained a loyal product ever since. So as pay-back and a thank you for all of my borrowed 'tips', I am going to throw one out there myself.
Our very own Jasmine&Orange Essential Oils Body Cream is my new beauty friend. I treated myself to a pot at Christmas to give it a try, see how it stood up to leading beauty brands (if I'm honest I didn't really think it was going to win me over especially with such heavy competition). Six weeks later I am still using it every single day, and night, and have not only recommended it to everyone I speak to in the shop but have also bought it several times already this year to give as birthday presents. It has a very luxurious, rich texture, is made with Cocoa and Shea butter and essential oils of Jasmine and Orange which give it a wonderful fresh, natural fragrance (there is nothing more off-putting than a synthetic smell in my beauty book) and is paraben-free (which is fast becoming a must in the beauty world, or certainly should be I say!). No high-tech science or unpronounceable words, just simple natural ingredients which really work.
I particularly use it on my hands as during the winter they age by about 10 years and need serious attention which no other cream on the market has yet to conquer. This dream cream has transformed them! It also looks really lovely left out on your dressing table, rather than a plastic squeezy container which only looks good on a supermarket shelf. Try it for yourselves, you won't be disappointed I promise. It's available on-line http://www.lavender-room.co.uk/shop/customer/product.php?productid=16829&cat=248&page=1 or in the Brighton boutique, 16 Bond Street, Brighton BN1 1RD 01273 220380

Working on the move has never been so glamorous!

A handbag is a key piece of fashion statement; it comes out with us everywhere, says a lot about our 'look' and style as well as having a very genuine function. The same could almost be said of the increasingly necessary 'second handbag', otherwise known as, the laptop case. So, for those of you who travel with work, ping-pong between working from home and office, or simply cannot bear to be parted from your laptop, why should this 'look' ever be compromised by a black, nylon, rectangle with Velcro straps, ie. the bog standard, dreary laptop case, which quite frankly you wouldn't dream of possessing, let alone 'wearing' if there were any serious stylish alternatives? Well girls, you can throw that case of nasty nylon away right now and get your hands on one of these gorgeous 'Louis' laptop cases from our favourite UK handbag designer, Mimi. Red or black patent (brilliant in wet weather and wipe clean!), fully lined with contrasting black/red velvet (super luxe), or dark brown leather (which would make a fantastic gift for your boyfriend/husband). Order yours on-line now! Commuting has just become ever so slightly more attractive.
